William Thomas Housley (1863-1933) was the son of Samuel Dudley Housley and that would make James Carroll 'Doc' Housley (1912-1968) his great-nephew. But you said that William Thomas Housley was Samuel Dudley's grandson which would mean William Thomas Housley (1908-1988), son of Samuel's son John Housley (1852-1920/30). But that would make James Carroll Housley his 1st cousin once removed.

Did you mean the older William Thomas Housley or the younger one who related this information to James Carroll Housley? Would you perhaps be James Carroll's nephew?

I am just trying to be clear how the information was passed on. I could see that Samuel's son would tell his great-nephew, but Samuel's grandson was born 21 years after his grandfather died and would have, himself, have heard it from someone else.

Thanks for indulging me in this line of questioning.
