Jack, I was hoping you would see my posting. Some time ago you had inquired about Samuel Housley and mentioned his middle name of Dudley. As no one else I have had contact with knew his middle name I needed to reach you.
This past July I attended the Housley family reunion in Dayton, Tennessee where all the attendees were descendants of William Thomas Housley. I had just been invited several days before and as it happened to fall on the very same day I was attending my own family reunion just 40 miles from Dayton it was hard to miss. I asked all the folks there if they had ever heard of Dudley as Samuel's middle name and no one did.
You said William Thomas Housley had related this detail. In what context did he do so? In other words, how did he come about mentioning his middle name? And to whom? As there appears to be no immediate documentation to attest to the name Dudley I would like to be able to reference what William Thomas said and to whom and when, if these facts are known to you.
The fact that he bore Dudley as his middle name attests to the identification of his mother as Sarah Stephens, daughter of Dudley Stephens.
I am a descendant of Samuel's older sister, Anna Green Housley through her marriage with William Holloway Powers.
