Elaine, I believe your Houseworth line traces to NYC as does mine. I have been unable to document the connection between the two lines and have only family stories. Your Levi is reported to be the son of Louis Alexander Houseworth & Catherine Mansinger (Louis b 1794 in NYC). The father of Louis is supposedly Michael Houseworth, b. 1772, NYC. Michael married first Sarah Archer and they had 4 children, of which Louis Alexander was the second. He also then m. Mary Ross and there were 7 more children. One of these was Thomas Houseworth, a photographer I research and collect. Michael's father was Abraham Houseworth (or Housewert), b. 1746, NYC.
I believe the origin of the Houseworth (Hauswirth) name is in German speaking Switzerland in Saanen, about 1500.
You can find a version of this on Fmilysearch.com by entering Louis Alexander Houseworth and working forward and back.
Contact me by email and I can give you a researcher directly descended from Michael Houseworth
