Hello, Fanny - Delighted to hear from you! I've been trying to find descendants of Alex Houser for almost four years. Are you descended from one of Alex and Lena's sons?
Alex Houser was my great-granduncle, brother of my great-grandfather Jacob Houser. They were sons of the John Jacob Houser and Gertrude Fischer Houser subject of my posting. Alex (his actual birth name seems to have been "Engelbert" or "Egbert") was born 3 Nov 1856 in Hamilton, Butler Co., OH. He married Magdalena ("Lena") Konrad (later "Americanized" to "Conrad") 17 Aug 1882 in St. Joseph Catholic church in Hamilton. She was born 5 Sep 1864 in Germany, daughter of Andreas Konrad and Katerina Horning, came to the U.S. as an infant. Alex and Lena had a total of eight sons, six of whom lived to adulthood: Andy, Ben, Frank, Joe, Albert, and John. (Two who apparently died young were George and William.)
Alex died 29 Sep 1935 in Hamilton; Lena died 8 Apr 1950. Both are buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, Butler Co., OH.
A couple years ago I went so far as to publish a photograph of Alex, Lena, and their six sons in a local newspaper in Hamilton, asking if anybody had known any of them and could give me information about them. I never heard a peep!
I stopped researching the Housers in about 1998, having gone about as far as I could, and, of course, I devoted most of my efforts to my own line from Jacob Houser on down to my father's mother, Carrie Belle Houser. However, I have lots of Houser data in a couple boxes at home (my computer is here in my office); you're welcome to copies of anything I have.
Fanny, I'd like to ask you to continue corresponding, but directly to my e-mail; I have trouble accessing the Internet. My e-mail address: [email protected]
Please let me know what info you already have; it will make it easier for me to go through the boxes and select things of interest to you.
I sure look forward to hearing from you!
