John HOUSER is thought to be the son of immigrant Matthias HOUSER.
John HOUSER was taxed as single in Earl Twp., Lancaster Co., PA in 1773.By 1781 he was taxed for first time in Penn Twp., Snyder Co., PA. with 130 acres and personal property.By 1787 John was being taxed for 300 acres in Snyder Co.
On January 30, 1777 a John HOUSER was a private in the German Regiment, Continental Line, stationed in Philadelphia - a company led by Capt. Benjamin WEISER and recruited from Snyder Co. in fall and early winter of 1776.There was also a John HOUSER who served in the Lancaster County Militia in the company of Capt. Alexander MARTIN, probably the same John HOUSER.On the 1790 Census John is listed as HH with one male over and three under age 16 plus 4 females.
