Fantastic work!!! and you have been very generous to share this. This is very helpful and there is obviously something a lot here. A William Washington Ferguson was a pioneer to Healdsburg with several children including a Henry age 11 in 1849. W. W. Ferguson sells his farm in Iowa April 1849. One or his children is named Paris(a name possibly connected to upstate New York). There is a long description of his wagon train experience which included 42 wagons, company of 300 souls, including passing through Illinois and meeting a Joab Bennett near Jasper.(Article does not hint at any relationship between Ferguson and Joab Bennett. Many of the artifacts found in the Healdsburg museum are from the Ferguson family. The captain of the wagon train is a Rev. J.S. Kilpatrick. Other names mentioned are Simon Moody and daughter Elizabeth Moody and Dr. Wells. Ferguson first goes into Marysville, CA and then buys property from Cyrus Alexander in 1857. (Alexander of Alexander valley) Is this of interest? There is more on the Ferguson's. I have unpublished letters from 1834 West Turin, the family was deeply religious and I have long suspected some of the family came west for religious purposes possibly as missionaries, unsure denomination. I have not seen Mormon ties in Healdsburg but you may also want to look at the shipload of Mormon settlers that Sam Brannen (spelling?) brought, members of the Mormon battalion, a New York military group-can't remember name, and two groups of miners that went out from Lewis County in 1849. They came to northern california Tinity area-see A history of Lewis county in the state of New York by Franklin Hough. Also watch for the relationship of John Ives of Lewis county to Joseph Ives in the Fremont party. I believe Joseph attended college in Lowville,NY. John heads west also. Seth Miller of Lewis Co. was an argonaut who returned to Lewis county and is distantly related to my line. Alexander Doig of Lewis county made CA state seal. Too much-sorry. Looks like you have the keys. Anyone you want me to watch for in particular? The Healdsburg museum is the best in the area for genealogical research but they are pretty busy. Santa Rosa has info but not their focus.
