My info stems from the Syracuse Public Library - local history dept. on the "Houghtaling - Hotaling family of the town of Pompey." comp[iled by Anna Hotaling.
Jonathan Houghtailing (spelled Houghtaile in the 1800 census) was a soldier in the war of the Revolution and was present at the surrender of Cornwallis. Moved in 1797 to the town of Pompey, Onandage county. He married Hannah Cattaback (Cuttebec) and had 8 children: John 1761-1840 m. Jane McKeevers
and are both buried in Houghtaling Hollow cemetery; Saphrine (Severine) 1766-1856 m. Catharine van Sickle; Elizabeth called Betsy m. LOTT; Peter; Henry 1780-1860 m. Elizabeth Wright; Hannah m. a Leonard lived in Massachusetts; Simeon 1785-1859 m. Anna Jones; and Ephraim 1790- he went to Kalamazoo.Hope this opens up a lead for you. Aloha.
