Lisa:
I am trying to follow up on a reference I found in a 1910 DAR magazine.I would like to find information on"M.E.S." who is somehow related to Hougham and Evans. Do you show a Hougham that might have a child M.E. born in late 1800s in McLean Co, IL, who may have married a James Smith of Bloomington, IL? ( I am following the Evans line.)
This is the DAR inquiry:
1730 EVANS My ancestor _________Evans ran away from his home in Wales and came to this country settling near Philadelphia some time in the eighteenth century He married and had four childern Lemuel b Aug 3 1776 m Jerusha Vezzey April 14 1796, Sarah Elizabeth and Susan. What was the name of his wife ? Did he serve in the Rev? What part of Wales did they come from? What were dates of his birth and death? M.E.S.
This M.E.S is identified as follows:
that person as. “Mrs. James Smith, grand-daughter of Andrew and Sarah (Evans) BIGGS, 709 W. Jefferson St., Bloomington, IL, Oct 30, 1917.
One of Andrew and Sarah's daughters, Martha, married William Hougham, (b. ca 1805) on 12 Feb. 1835 in McLean Co, IL.
Do you have any information on these Hougham?I have very little on the Houghams, and show only one child for William & Sarah, Phoebe who died at lyr.4mos.
I would appreciate any help you might be able to provide.
Thank you,
