Nonagenarian is honored

“I can remember Riverside Avenue back in 1890 when you used to wade across in mud ankle deep”, says Mrs. Anna McPherson, long time Spokanite. She celebrated her 90th birthday, Wednesday.
Mrs. McPherson, a 1934 charter member of the Bide-a-Wee club was honored with a surprise party by club members Wednesday in the Desert hotel.
They weren’t any paved streets in Spokane when I got here and there was a cable car up North Monroe”, Mrs. McPherson said.
Born in Inverness [sb Inverness], Scotland, April 25 1866, Mrs. McPherson came to this country in 1884. She moved to Spokane in 1890 and has made it her home ever since.
“I work with flowers – that’s the way I keep feeling young”, the spry Mrs. McPherson said.
Mrs. McPherson makes her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hossack, N2617 Howard. She has a son, Dayton, in San Diego who recently retired after 37 years in the marines.
