Howard: Do you know of a James K. Hosmer and his brother Ed Hosmer in the 52nd. Mass Volunteer Infantry? I have a book written in 1864 by James K. Hosmer entitled: COLOR-GAURD A CORPORAL'S NOTES OF MILITARY SERVICE IN THE NINETEENTH ARMY CORPS. (very good book so far. Gives good account of his participation as a color corporal and the events of the 52nd. which served 9 months,) Ed Hosmer age 19 died of disease in Louisiana. James Hosmer (1843-1927) was a young clergyman. Both listed home town as Deerfield, Mass. James Hosmer was quite a writer of Mass. and US history. Wrote books on: Lewis & Clark, Samuel Adams, History of the Mississippi Valley, Life of Sir Henry Vane Mass. Gov. Was wondering if your other Hosmer people know about these two civil war ancestor soldiers. I am a civil war historian/researcher/writer in Iowa.
