Hello Mr. Cooper, my name is Dena Jordan and I am also 'trying' to do a little research on this family. Not Anna and Jesse exactly but their daughter, Martha Jane who married Hiram Cooper, who married on Jan 13, 1843. In 1850 Hiram and Martha Jane are living in Union Parish, LA, with a son, John, age 6 and the possible father of either Hiram or Martha (both are listed as being married with the same surname at the time of their marriage and the elderly gentlemen living with them just shows the initial 'J.B.'). My problem is, I can't find either Hiram or Martha (AKA Mary and Mariah) Jane Cooper on the 1860 census anywhere. Hiram died on Oct. 10, 1864, and Martha Jane died on Dec. 23, 1875 but Familysearch.Org doesn't give the place of death. Have you gotten this far yet? And also, do you know the names of Jesse and Anna's other children? On the 1850 Union Parish, LA., census, the enumerator is listing Martha Jane as being born in TN and not Mississippi, where Jesse and Anna were married and living in 1840. It could be that Hiram was possibly born in TN and the census taker just did that famous 'ditto' mark on down the line. Anyway, if you have any information other than what I have, I would love to hear from your.
