Michael Hose, the son of Dietrich Hose and Receni Frank,was born on September 26, 1824 (some records indicate 1822)in York Township, York County, PA.He married Sarah Keesey, daughter of Jacob Keesey and Polly Flinchbaugh, on December 3, 1848.He died on Ocotber 18, 1886 in York, PA. He enlisted in Company C, 87th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, and served with the regiment for eighteem months with two months in the hospital at Fort Mchenry, MD.He subsequently reenlisted in Company K, 200th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, and remained in service until the end of the war.He served in battles around Petersburg, Butler's Front, and Hatcher's Run.He is reported to have been a witness to Lee's surrender to Grant at Appomattox Court House, VA.
