There is a book about the pilots from Hartlepool and the nearby Tees estuary. It is "the History of the Tees Pilots" by D.S. Hellier - The edition I have covers up until 1982. Ref isbn 0 9508004 06.

It includes a, stated to be incomplete, list of the Pilots. There are several Horsleys in the first half of the 1800s - but no Robert.

My family tree includes Horsleys and Hartlepool pilots but the Horsely are rather earlier.

James Horsley b 1761/m Jane Hood 1785
- could be a pilot there is a James in the list at relevany dates.

Children Elizabeth(died in infancy) /Sarah/Dinah/Elizabeth/Jane/Mary and James. The second Elizabeth is my ancestor through her marriage to Thomas Pounder.

my email is plse contact me if more info would help
