The record that you have of the handing down of the compass is more than most others have of this family. That is new information to the several other rsearchers that I have contacted.
I consider any information from the Family Search site to be unreliable. David was NOT born 7 months after Ebenezer. That is probably a missunderstanding of the Quaker way of expressing dates and not knowing that the calendar has changed since then. Month 1 was March until 1752 in the colonies. There are Warrington MM records that have William and David removing to Hopewell in 1781. They were probably born in Chester (Warrington) and married in Fredrick, VA (Hopewell). The Mary that moved with her parents in 1765 was a child, she was not born in 1744. If there was a Mary born 1744, she may have died young, and a second girl child named Mary.
If you have access to Ancestry.com databases there is a set of "Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy," Vol. 1-6, that contains a lot of Quaker MM records. Much of my information comes from there. If you do not have access to the databases at Ancestry.com, I do and would be happy to look for you there.
I think that we should take this off the GenForum. Please click on my name above to get my e-mail address and contact me directly.
