According to the Horner Family History at the website of Larry & Annie Kraus, he was a son of George R. Horner and Priscilla Winslow.

Chestley Thomas Horner, born June 1827, North Carolina; died May 1900, Carthage, Moore County, North Carolina. He married Candice Muse about 1856 in Moore County, North Carolina; born 3 June 1829; died 23 July 1893.
