My husband's family descends from Rev. William Horne from Scotland. William married Mary Somervell of Ampherlaw, Carnwath, in the county of Lanark on March 10, 1805. They had the following children:
Samuel Somervell Horne b. 25 Jul 1807
Isobel Forrester Horne b. 22 Jan 1809
Marion Neilson Horne b. 21 Oct 1810
William Somervell Horne b. 10 Jun 1812
Alexander Horne b. 8 Mar 1814
William Somervell Horne b. 16 Apr 1816
George Forrester Horne b. 22 Sep 1818
Archibald Forrester Horne b. 1 Apr 1824
Our line comes down from the second William Somerville Horne, born in 1816. It was evidently a custom that if a child died the next child born of the same sex would be given the dead child's name.
*Rev. William Horne's parents were John Horne and Marion Neilson. William was born 20 Sep 1778.
*John Horne was baptized on 19 Dec 1736 and his parents were James Horne and Janet Reid.
*James Horne was baptized 17 Mar 1706 and his parents were James Horne and Margaret Kincaid who were married 09 or 19 August1702.
*James Horne was baptized 24 Feb 1683 and was the son of James Horne and Margaret Cook who were married 11 Feb 1682.
I do have other information and would be happy to send if you wish. You can e-mail me direct at mike309@i1.net
