This is such an old message, Bruce, that you might not still be out there, but you must be somehow tied into my family - My father is one of the Magnolia Hornes. I can't pin down who you might be descended from though, as I thought we had a handle on all of them. What was your father's name? You did have one answer from a lady who had tapped into the right people - Lillian Martin who wrote: I am very familiar with Magnolia. I took a trip there and met a Florence Horne who has since died. My grandmother was a Horne before marriage and she was from Wilmington,N.C. Florence Elizabeth was a cousin of mine - she was the child of Ralph Horne who was the child of Jordan Caswell Horne and Bettie Florence Heath, who was he child of Jordan Cofield Horne and Nancy Jane Flowers. I believe that we have Hornes descended from brothers, and that one branch (not yours, but Lilian's) did end up in Wilmington. There is a plot for them in Oakdale Cemetary there. There is also a plot in the old Magnolia cemetary but I believe an older graveyard has been lost to development. Ours came from either Georgia or Ireland (possibly via Georgia). I've never ever heard a thing about Indian background. I suspect that is just a story. We're in the wrong part of the state for that, really, unless you are talking about the Lumbees and, as I say, I've listened to the oldest generation (born at the turn of the last century) do a lot of family discussing and no such claim has ever been made.
