I have some slightly different dates for Jordan (b 1828 in Edgecombe County, died 1871 or 1874) but I do have him marrying Nancy Flowers - and also as being an inspector of road beds for the Atlantic Coast Line railway and owner of a mercantile store. I have his father as Guilford (or Dr. William) Horne, born 1797 and died 1851. His origins are murky - one account says he came from Georgia, another that he came from Ireland with his brother James. He married Mary (Polly) Dixon.
I have also been told that the family name may have been "hearn" at some point but have no support for that.
