Hello Kevin:

I am researching the Horne/Cahill family and I believe your great grandmother is also my husbands great grandmother.
Eliza Horne was born Aug 17 1869 in Hants County Nova Scotia. Eliza was the daughter of Donald Daniel Horne and Ellen Hall.

Eliza married James Cahill, son of Matthew Cahill and Sarah MacMullin, in 1892. They had the following children:

Leah Marguerite Cahill, Aug 1893 ( my husband's grandmother)
Rhoda Cahill born Dec 1896
Wilford Cahill born May 1898
Elinor Cahill born Jun 1900
Archibald Cahill orn Jun 1905
James Cahill born Oct 1906
Mary Cahill Mar 1911

The children were all born in Hants County Nova Scotia.

Matthew Cahill was born in 1838 in Nova Scotia. I believe his father was born in Ireland but have not been able to track this so far. Matthew married Sarah Jane McMullin, daughter of Henry McMullen and Margaret Redgate, in Dec 1863 in Antigonish Nova Scotia. They had the following children:

James Cahill born Mar 26 1866
Mary Ann Cahill born 1865
John D. Cahill born 1870
Clarence Cahill born 1873

All born in Nova Scotia.

Eliza Hornes father, Donald Danial Horne, was the son of
Andrew Philip Horne b 1799 and Ann Nancy Barbara McDonell
Andrew Philip was the son of Philip Andrew Horne b 1770 and Barbara Gephard.
Philip Andrew was the son of Jacob Horne b 1732 Alsace France and Francoise Anastasia Savary b 1729 Port Royal Nova Scotia.

I have the Horne family back to 1400's but don't have much on the Cahills. As I said, through family notes, Matthew Cahill's father was from Ireland but I can't find anything yet on that track.

Most of my husband's grandmothers siblings went to the States but I do have some of her notes with names that I haven't been able to connect.

Which of the Cahills are you familiar with? Would be most interested in hearing from you.

Roberta Doyle
