I do get quite a lot of enquiries as to what is the coat of arms for Horn/Horne. Can I now say that there is no coat of arms for the name Horn/Horne, or any other name The fact that a Horne has at some time applied and been successful in being granted arms by the college over the last sixhundred years, it was not granted for Horne. It was granted to the person whose name just happened to be Horne or Jones or Johnson or anybody. A coat of arms is a personal possession for the holder and his sons and for nobody else. There something like 21 coats of arms for horn/Horne that have been legally granted to those individuals personally whether now dead or still alive in hundreds of years. Sadly it is rich market of exploitation by certain companies selling a coat arms which happens to be the same name as yours, and I have been able to stop two Horne coat of arms from being used in this manner.Although one can buy a plaque and hang it in your house, you cannot legally use it on business cards or letter headings as you are breaking the law by using the personal property of that person or family. When you see these vendors in a store etc and you see your name ask them who the Horn/Horne is. They cannot tell you!!! No more than they can tell which Brown or Harris or Edwards they are offering. They want your money. Geoffrey R Horne. Notify Administrator about this message?
