Hmm,
I have yet to actually find any tombstones with the family name. The one place I know for sure is the Westerkerk in Amsterdam. The problem with that is that very few graves under the church are marked, fewer still are readable, and (the kicker) most of the record of who is buried where were destroyed in WW2. They do know for sure that Rembrant's son is burried there, somewhere.
In Haarlem where I now live there are no Hornbecks listed in the phone book at all, under any different spelling. I have checked for any at all. No Van Hoornbeecks, no Van Hornbeeks, nothing. Apparently Haarlem once hosted several branches of the family, but I appear to be the only one now, and I am not Dutch, I am only an American searching for roots while I am living here.
I have seen the Frans Halls painting in Brussels of a Van Hoornbeeck who was the Professor of Theology at Uni Leiden, not far from here. I know that there was a branch of Van Hoornbeecks from this area, but I am decended from Waarner who is thought to not be from the Holland branch, but rather from Gent (now part of Belguim.) It is possible that one of his forfathers was related to the Haarlem branch, but there is no substantial proof.
So, if I do come accross ANYTHING I will report it here first.
Thanks,

Anyone care to fill in my blanks (since you have access to the book?)
