Nathan and his brother, John, are both known to have moved to Preble Co. (and Butler Co.), Ohio, in the early 1800s (they were there by 1810, and the last record I can find for Nathan in Orange Co., NC, is dated 1807).Nathan's second wife was a long-time Quaker (who was disowned for marrying him). The Hornadays were living among Quakers, interacting with them, and more than one married a Quaker. So it is not surprising that they should end up living among Quakers in Ohio.
In the two years since I made my posting on this forum, I have satisfied myself (but cannot formally "prove") that the Mary I was asking about was indeed a Hornaday, and was, in fact, a younger sister of Nathan, above. She married Henry Underwood, son of Alexander Underwood (another Orange Co. Quaker family), and they moved to what was then Montgomery Co., NC, and is now Stanly Co.Mary is never mentioned in the Hornaday book, and almost no one knows that she even existed.
