Lorean Lucile Nielsen was born on July 14, 1912 on a farm in Rosehill Twp, Cottonwood County, Minnesota to Fred and Katie Wildfeuer Lidtke. She was baptized on November 28, 1912 and confirmed on March 28, 1926 at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Fulda. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school and St. Paul's School. In 1916 she moved to Gray, OK and returned in 1920 to the family farm. On September 28, 1930 she and Arnold W. Horn were married at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Following their marriage they farmed in Rosehill Twp. from 1930-1942, in Bondin Twp. from 1942-1946, in Canistota, SD in 1946-1947 then back to Bondin Twp. from 1947-1961. They retired from farming and moved to Fulda. Arnold passed away on April 16, 1976. Lorean married Kenneth Sumption on March 4, 1980 at St Paul's Lutheran Church. Following their marriage they made their home in Fremont, NE. In 1981 they moved to Fulda and resided in her home. Ken passed away on November 4, 1982. On January 7, 1984 she and Carl Nielsen were married in Windom, MN. They made their home in Fulda. In 1997 she moved to the Maple View Apartments in Fulda. Carl passed away on January 6, 1999. On November 4, 2004 Lorean became a resident of the Prairie View Health Care Center in Tracy. She later transferred to the Maple Lawn Nursing Home and passed away there on January 29, 2005 at the age of 92. Lorean was a life long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. During her lifetime she was a volunteer driver and member of the Pink Ladies. Lorean enjoyed bowling, working in her flower garden and later playing cards with friends.
Survivors include two children and their spouses: Vernis and Roger Gustin of Fulda, Lane and Linda Horn of Tracy, daughter-in-law, Sandra Horn of Lake Shetek, nine stepchildren, four grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Arnold Horn, Kenneth Sumption and Carl Nielsen, son, Ilen (Ike) Horn, son-in-law, Mervin Lund, great-grandson, Hunter Lund, sister, Mildred Bunting, and brother, Harol Lidtke.
Funeral services were held at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church, Fulda, MN on Tuesday February 1, 2005 at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Dwayne Schroeder officiating. The organist was Irene Wahl. The soloist was Karl Baumann. The pallbearers were Voyne Bunting, Dennis Lidtke, James Tammeus, Ken Zins, Scott Horn, and Wendell Horn. Interment at Prairie Hill Cemetery Fulda, MN.
