Hi, Nancy, I'm surprised that you've not heard from one of the folks who descends from the "Ohio Hormells." According to the information I have been given, this was an Elizabeth Hormel who m. Alexander PORTER. Elizabeth was the dau. of John Hormel/Hormell, Sr.(1742-1823)and his wife Eleanor ____ (1741-1821). John had warranted a tract of nearly 400 acres in East Bethlehem Twp., Washington Co., PA in 1786, bordering on the Monongahela River. Earlier in 1769 he warranted 400 acres in Monongalia County, VA --- very likely the same 400 acres, simply VA no longer claimed this land. John moved on to Ohio and died in Turtle Creek Twp., Warren Co., Ohio. John was a younger brother of "my" Jacob Hormell who stayed on this PA land after marrying at age 60 in 1797. Best regards, Jane
