I'm not related but I found an interesting document in deed book C,p.16-17,at Hillsboro,Jefferson Co.,Mo. It is at the end of a page of one I had copied so is not complete,yet it does give info that some on this forum should find helpful. "Articles of Agreement of these parts made and entered in this eleventh day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five between Rueben Smth of the County of Washington,State of Mo.,1st part,and Susan Caroline Horine of said county and state,daughter of Jacob Horine,deceased,of 2nd part,and Thomas and James Maddin of County of St.Genevieve,and Josiah McClendan of Washington County,3rd part,as follows;Whereas said Susan Carolne Horine is entitled jointly with her brother,Thomas Maddin Horine,as heirs of Jacob Horine their father deceased, tracts of land lying and being in Jefferson County,Mo.,35 Negros,consisting of men,women,and children and their increase,and ten thousand dollars,more or less,consisting of cash,bonds,bills.Notes and accounts as by refferences to the settlement made by their Guardian Thomas Maddin in the proper court will more fully and specifically appear,and also is entitled with her brother to nine lots in the town of Herculaneum,Jefferson County,Mo.,as yet undivided contain about two thousand eight hundred acres...which were deeded to said Jacob Horine in his lifetime and are to be found on record in the proper office...and whereas a marriage is shortly to be had and solemnized between the said Rueben Smith and Susan Caroline Horine it is therefore...end" ,hope this helps, Al
