Below are the items you wanted from the book, Hopson: A Genealogy, by Dorothy N. Perkins. "On February 2, 1832, an indenture was made between Matthew Grant of Montgomery County, Tennessee, George B. Hopson and David B. Allen. For $1.00, Matthew Grant sold to D. B. Allen his crop of tobacco in the barn, corn in the field, bay mare, twenty head of hogs, a cow, a calf and fifty acres of land. Matthew Grant was indebted to G. B. Hopson for $100.00. If not paid, D. B. Allen was authorized to take possession of property and put up for public sale for cash at Port Royal on the request of Allen and G. B. Hopson. The deed was signed by Michael Grant, George B. Hopson, and A. H. Fortson." [This is copied verbatim from pages 292-293 of Perkins' book. She footnoted her paragraph with source shown as Montgomery County, Tennessee, Roll 110, Deed Book M, pp 569-570.] On page 293 is another mention of Matthew Grant, as follows: "George B. Hopson sold Matthew Grant fifty acres of land in Montgomery County, Tennessee, on September 2, 1835." [She footnoted this with source shown as Montgomery County, Tennessee, Roll 111, Deed Book P, p 88.] And another item on page 293: "On September 2, 1835, George B. Hopson sold Matthew Grant a 350 acre tract of land in Montgomery County, Tennessee." [She footnoted that with source shown as Montgomery County, Roll 112, Deed Book R, p 5.] This comes from the first edition of the book, copyright 1998. The index included no other pages with references to Matthew Grant. Hope this helps, and good luck in your research. Happy Greer Notify Administrator about this message?
