Benjamin Hopson b ca 1785 VA/TN/1850 AR

I believe this is my family but just beginning
on my Hopson family.

1850 U.S. Census State of Arkansas
Van Buren County
Independence Township
349
Hopson, Benjamin 65 M Tailor VA
Mary 46 F VA
Nancy W. 24 F VA
Wm. 22 M VA
Amanda 18 F TN
John 16 M TN
Mary 14 F TN
George 12 M TN

so this family seems to have been in Virginia
at least to 1828.
1832 finds them in Tennessee.
They are in Arkansas after 1838 but before the
1850 census.

I think the John is my ancestor
He married a Martha (Hawkins) Simpkins -
had a daughter Josephine born 1865.
By 16 Jul 1868 Martha married a Bailey, so
Hopson was her second of 3 husbands.

I wonder if John Hopson might have died
in the Civil War? Also maybe Jacob Simpkins
the first husband.

There are no Hopson in the 1860 census
of Van Buren Co AR, but they might have
moved to a nearby county.

Anyone know of this family?
