Here is an email I sent to the RLDS Church Historian about them I am related to Mary Polley Hopper who married Jesse Hiitchcock. Jesse was in the Mormon high Council at Far West, MO until about 1836 when he was disfellowshiped.. Two stories about them have been told about what happened to them. One is that Jesse died and was buried at Far West in 1837. The other, is that he died at Mt. Pisgah, as a Mormon, with his wife in 1846. It has been said that Mary Hitchcock and her 8 or 10 children were listed on the 1838 Far West, MO. membership Roll for Far West, but not Jesse. After that time, nothing is known about Mary or any of her children. It has been 150 or so years since that time. It seems as though the RLDS (Community of Christ) or the LDS Church would be interested in determining what really happened to this family. Jesse was well thought of by Joseph Smith, Jr. And his reply: While I would quite interested in the resolution of this historical question, I have not been successful thus far. What I have been able to find is essentially posted on www.FarWestHistory.com. The best information about the Hopper family comes through the RLDS tradition in the Case family. Modern day descendants, now named DeLapp live in Independence and have been interest in these questions. You might attempt to contact them. However, I do not believe they have substantive information about what happened to Jessie and Polly. Let me know what you find. Continued best wishes, Information I have says that Francis Cunningham Case married Lydia Ann Hopper Conley's daughter Mary Ann Conley on 4-3-1834 in Lafayette, MO. Are there any more Cases that married Hoppers? Also, were there ANY Hopper people in MO or Illinois that were members of the RLDS Church from 1844 onward?
