HOPPE>>Pomerania>>Milwaukee, WI
Seeking contact with others researching HOPPE line in Kries Griefenburg,Pomerania--noe part of North Western Poland--specifically near the villages of Arnsburg, Roby and Triebs.
They would would begin to appear in Milwaukee Wisconsin Records between 1876-1900...
My grandfather, Dr. Herbert Otto Hoppe was born August 08, 1899.
His brothers and sisters were:
--Rose Hoppe born February 01, 1891 and married Joepsh Lauer about 1914;
Rose Hoppe was born when William and Elizabeth lived at the Elm Street
address in Milwaukee.
I am told that Rose usually attended the Lutheran Church (St. James?) at
60th an Lloyd in Milwaukee. I have no obituary for her, because I don't know
exactly when she died--family says about 1959...SSDI had a Rose Lauer with
the same DOB dying in May 1974...I have no obituary...
--Irma Hoppe born July 17, 1895 and married Gottlieb J. Willing (who was
born in 1894 in New Jersey). They were married on June 12, 1915...but I
don't know at which church. Irma lived at 606--22nd Street in 1921.Died
about 1963.--Nothing in SSDI for her.
--Fredrick Albert Hoppe born August 26, 1897 and married Anna Smrz on
September 06, 1919.(Anna was born in Milwaukee in July 1896).His obituary
has his name mis-spelled.It was entere as HOTTE, Frederick A...he died May
24, 1970 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery--wherever that is...???

He lived at 5th and Hadley then moved to 35th and Lloyd in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin. In 1921 they lived at 2442 Elm Street.
--Flora Hoppe born January 23, 1905 married a Peter Nenning and had a son
named Jerome who was born about 1928.Peter died in May 1970--I have no
obit for him..the marriage did not last...don't know when it dissolved...I
have no obit for Flora Nenning--she died in December 1975.
She was living with her mother Elizabeth Hoppe and brothers Harvey and Ralph
Hoppe for the 1930 census at2313 Brown Street..Jerome is listed as aged 1
5/12.so the marriage didn't last very long.
