Melvin T. Hopkins born June 26, 1830 in NY married Abigail Finney on Dec. 29, 1853. She was born Jan. 9, 1835 in Painted Post, Steuben County, NY or in PA. She died July 15, 1925 in St. Paul, Ramsey Co., Minnesota.

Melvin T. Hopkins died Nov. 12, 1890 in Pueblo, Colorado. In 1860 his occupation was farmer, in 1880, stockman.

Melvin is the son of Benjamin Hopkins (born 1786 RI died Aug. 29, 1838 in Argyle, Washington Co., NY) and 2nd wife Charity Leigh b. Feb. 20, 1794 d. Mar. 8, 1865. They married about 1830.

Melvin & Abigail had 3 daughters: Ellen Marie b. 1854 WI, Frances D. b. 1872 CO and Nellie b. 1876 CO. There may have been other children.

Melvin descends from William Hopkins (d.1688) in Roxbury, Norfolk Co., MA. His ancestral lineage can be read on-line.
