My great granfather, Paul, came to this country by himself at the age of 17. At some point he changed his name from Hoppe which was on the ship registry, to Hapka. He was listed as coming from Prussia on the ship roster. The ship was the Sorrento from Hamburg landing in NY July 1, 1886. Paul was born Jan 1, 1867. If you ever come across a family with a son Paul at this time frame, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks for any future help.
