Hopgoods in New Zealand

Hi David,
I am researching the one HOPGOOD line in Australia. Two brothers, John and George HOPGOOD were transported to VDL and NSW in 1831 (the start of our Australian ancestors). They were born in Chute Wiltshire, both married and had children in Wiltshire & Hampshire, both transported, and both remarried in Australia and raised another HOPGOOD family.
It has been 'family hearsay' for many years that we had relatives in NZ.We have just unearthed a letter written by a Mary HOPGOOD from NZ (written in 1919)She had come across to Australia to look for ("she was most anxious to find him")her cousin Mr Arthur Norman HOPGOOD.He had returned from WW1 25/12/1918.She had written to the Brunswick Post Office as possibly he had moved from the address she had.Sadly, Arthur did not receive the letter for some time, and even more sadder, Mary did not give her NZ address on the letter.
Arthur Norman is the father of Jessie Batchelor, and is descended from John HOPGOOD.My mother was Jeanie (nee HOPGOOD) also descended from John HOPGOOD.
John and George's parents were Thomas HOPGOOD and Mary WHEELER (and Thomas was the son of Thomas HOPGOOD and Esther SMART)all from Chute Wiltshire.
Hoping to hear from you,
Tina Russell
