Oh my goodness!! That is the same lawsuit paper a relative just sent me last year. I was in the process of transcribing it to post here as well. I aggree something fishy happened here..

This is a letter written Feb. 24, 1954, by a family member from my GG-aunt Sinah Anna Mariah's husbands Pindall line who was a judge to...

Dear Mrs. Smith:

Nora P. Adams, my mother, has given me your letter of February 11, addressed to her. She is not very well at the present time and asks that I reply.

You are correct that mother is the cousin Nonie and Addie Milliken is her sister.

I have obtained the advice of an attorney at Natchez and he states that in his opinion the living ZHootsell heirs do not have any claim to the land at this time and would not be justified in going to the expense of employing counsel. The suit is simply one to correct some ancient record defects in the chain of title. Any interest that might have been left in the earlier Hootsell heirs because of a certain defective conveyance has long since been barred by the statue of limitations.

It was nice hearing from you and if you have any further questions about the litigation or other members of the family, I would be pleased to have you write me.

With kindest regards, in which Mother joins, I am

Very Truly Yours,
George Pindall Adams

I have found out how several people on the list are related to us. My mother's sister Doris Jean and her father William Richard Hargis, her Aunt Daisy Castleberry, Uncle Louis Owen Watkins ...Owens, Pindall, etc. are on it. None of the living family recalls receiving this summons however. It was sent by a distant cousin last October. Now I think I have a lead on this land. I will email you a few posts I located concerning land in Adams County Mississippi left in the will of Jamina (unk.)Hootsell-Iler-Lewis to 2 of her Hootsell children & 2 of her Iler children granted by the Spanish Govt. to her husband. I'm betting this is the land in this lawsuit. Evidently the Iler sons tried to sue to get it in the early 1800's --or so. Very intresting huh? I hope someone in our line figures it out and maybe could straighten it out. Annalyn
