Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
I'm not a HOOPES researcher but thought this info may help someone. From my book 1891 "Biographical History of Pottawattamie Co, Iowa" there is a bio for ISAAC HOOPES (deceased), b. Adams Co, PA, Dec 29, 1832, son of JAMES HOOPES (a native of Pennsylvania) and ELIZABETH (BRINTON) HOOPES (b. Chester Co, PA). Isaac learned the trade of blacksmith and wagon-maker, and at age 21 "went west to Delaware Co, Iowa." Isaac married REBECCA FARR (b. Fayette Co, PA, daughter of Moses and Mary (Hatfield) Farr). Rebecca Farr Hoopes taught school in Virginia and Iowa before marrying Isaac Hoopes on Sept 24, 1865, in Delaware Co, Iowa. The bio states that Isaac Hoopes "was killed on his own farm, Feb 16, 1888, by a runaway team." His widow and 2 children survive him: Willis I. Hoopes and Orville G. Hoopes. Their first-born child, Charles R. Hoopes, died 1882 at age 15. If anyone wants the entire bio, please e-mail me directly as I don't frequent this site.
