Rev. Soldier Capt. Samuel Higginbotham (son of Aaron and Clara Graves Higginbotham of Amherst Co., VA) and wife Jane Satterwhite moved from Amherst Co., VA to Elbert Co. GA. Their daughter Clarysa Higginbotham married Stephen Chatham in Elbert Co. on 5 Apr 1810. Stephen was from Franklin Co., GA and his Will there in 1826 names his daughter Benicy [Bernicy] Green Chatham. Bernicy married in Franklin Co., GA to Johnson Monroe Hooper (1804-1864), son of Matthew Brooks Hooper and Elizabeth Adams Word. Matthew was the son of Obediah Hooper and Massilva Brooks.
Obediah's Will was dated 16 Jul 1800 in Franklin Co., GA in which he named children James, Thomas, John, Obediah, Matthew, William, Richard, Nancy Goodlet, Melia Monroe and Susannah Perry. Johnson Monroe Hooper and wife Bernicy Green Chatham moved to Leake Co., MS at Edinburg. They had 17 children. Since I am a descendant of two of the siblings of Clarysa Higginbotham Chatham, I would be related to all descendants of Johnson Monroe Hooper and Bernicy Green Chatham and can provide info on the Higginbotham-Satterwhite-Graves connections upon request.My e-mail yonahdells@windstream.net
