Richard, Loyalist, sons: William & James, Royal Fencible Am.
Does anyone out there have any info on this Richard Hooper who was a Loyalist? He moved to New Brunswick, Canada after the Revolutionary War (around 1784) and was granted land there. He was probably born around 1735 or earlier. His son, William, was born around 1755 in St. George, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada which makes me think that he was already in Canada and joined the Royal Fencible Americans under Col. Goreham (who was given the land grant for Deer Island, N.B., Canada for his participation in the war efforts) and not in the US at the time of the Revolutionary War. Since William moved to Deer Island and eventually bought land there, perhaps he served with Goreham. There was also a Patrick Flynn on the island who served in the RFA with Goreham. I have the family tree from there on if anyone wants that info. Thanks, Dorothea Hooper
