Just another clarification: The line from Vermont was originally from MA/CT and was the line of Joseph Hooker - one of his descendats was fighting Joe Hooker. They are J2b.

It does not look like that line and the Wm "I" Hooker of eastern VA/NC (your line Sharon) will ever be a match in yDNA. Some think that if the Rev Thomas Hooker line ever tests for yDNa it might match that of Joseph Hooker - both originally from England.

The southern line coming into Jamestown, VA from England, earlier than the MA Hookers, might be a different male line from Eng.; there was a male Hooker in Eng who took the name from his wife's line - that may have skewed the yDNA results.
