William Kenneth Hooker, 89 obit.
Raleigh - William Kenneth Hooker, 89, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, after a short illness.
Born on Dec. 23, 1915, in Loudon, Tenn., he was the son of the late John Robert Hooker and Minnie Brooks Hooker.
Before moving to Raleigh in 1988, Ken worked over 30 years in the manufacturing business in Hendersonville, where he served as president of Ada Co., Inc. and Mills River Industries. He and his wife were charter members of Christ Baptist Church in Raleigh and for many years he was a volunteer with Prison Fellowship Ministries.
Mr. Hooker is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lucille Miller Hooker; daughters, Judith Womack and her husband, Robert, Susan Metts and her husband, Tom, and Cindy Fearnhead and her husband, Ivan; grandson, Robert Reid Womack Jr. and his wife, Allison; great-grandson, Robert Reid Womack III; brothers, Raymond, Robert and Douglas Hooker; sisters, Helen Abernathy, Pearl Jenkins, Martha Ann Johnson and Mary Jane Copeland; and close brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Miller and Mrs. L.H. Ball.
A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Friday at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. David Horner of Providence Baptist Church officiated the service. Afterwards, a private mausoleum entombment followed at Raleigh Memorial Park.
