Samuel (N?) Hooker on the TN 1820 and AL 1830 census?? Elizabeth 1840 in TN?
A Samuel (N?) Hooker appears on the Lawrence Co.,TN census in 1820 and could be the same as the one on the Lauderdale Co., AL 1830 census. The lines between these states moved/varied in the 1800s, and these counties are right across the state boder from each other - also Samuel's land could extend across the line, causing him to be enumerated in one state one census and the other then next census - this happened at times.
The ages are right for he and his wife to be the same on both censuses - 16-26 in 1820 in TN and 30-40 in 1830 in AL - also the children could be the same ones/right ages on both censuses.
It has been theorized that this might be a son of Thomas or Wm (both b in the late 1770s in NC), if this Samuel stayed/settled along the TN/AL line as his family moved from TN to AL c 1818.
Anyone having info on this Samuel - or an Elizabeth, listed as head of house in 1840 in Hardin CO.,TN, please reply.
