If the name of your first known ancestor was Wm., and he was from NC, he is probably descended from the Wm Hooker who came to VA from Eng. in 1657 and then on toNC - and not the Rev. Thomas Hooker of Puritan/New Eng. fame.
There was also another Rev Thomas Hooker later in TN I thinkfrom the NC Hookers - some of the NC Hookers went from NC into TN and then N and some S as mine ancestors did to AL.
I have a book by Malcolm Hooker which has some info in it - actually it is more of a booklet and is in some libraries but is hard to access - I will look through it for mention of this Wm you are looking for - I do not have the complete booklet, though. I also think he mentions a Hooker researcher in Canada - I will let you know. A Celeste Holly
