Kyle, your info is the best I`ve found. Thanks for all your research. I have been searching the Raleigh Archives for some of my ancestors and know there`s alot of wrong stuff out there. My gggrandfather was John Hooker who moved to NewBern from Tyrrell Co. before 1840. I think his parents were Hyram/Hiram Hooker and Anne Davenport Hooker Covert. I also surmise that Hiram`s father was probably John, son of Sheriff John (will 1790). From studying estate records, wills, census, etc. I really believe that Hiram`s father had to have been one of Sheriff John (will 1790)`s sons. Also I am surmising that the John of estate papers 1788 was the son of Sheriff John`s brother Stephen. This John was "presumed to be dead" and heirs were NOT his children.Do you have any info on this branch that would show the parentage of Hiram ? Thanks.
