Kate,

I am glad you posted the line you are working on.

First, Elizabeth Mary (Swain) Hooker, 1st wife of John Hooker, died before August 1765, since she is shown as deceased in the estate papers of her sister, Martha Swain, of Tyrrell Co., NC. Elizabeth Mary was the mother of John's children.

However, if you are descended from Nathan and Elizabeth (Leary) Hooker, through their daughter Mary Ryan Hooker who m. John Haughton, then you are NOT descended from a John Hooker. The Nathan Hooker who left will in 1801 in Tyrrell Co., NC, was the son of Stephen and Rosannah (Swain) Hooker.

If you are trying to prove a Revolutionary War line, then it would have to be from Nathan Hooker, son of Stephen, because you are not a direct descendant of any of the John Hookers.

John Hooker's son, Nathan, m. Jane Parsons, Jan. 7, 1790, in Tyrrell Co., NC.
