What are the chances?
Hello,
I think that all of you had seen my postings, looking for information on Major General Joseph Hooker. I would like to share something about my family with yours.
A few months ago I started my search to find out if I had any family members that fought in the Civil War. In the end, I found that I had 6 family members that fought for the north, one being my Great, Great Grandfather. I learned that he had fought for the 84th Pennsylvania. Some of you may know that I portray Major General Hooker for the Civil War Heritage Foundation. On August 17th General Hooker and I stood before the combined companies of Union and Confederate soldiers at Hamlin Beach New York. Although I was there portraying General Hooker, this moment was for me. You see, my Great Great Grandfather, Robert Lipton Rodkey fought for General Hooker at Chancelorsville on the Plank Road. Because of "Our" relatives action I was honored by being inducted into the "Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War". It is because of your help in my efforts to keep one of your's alive, now one of mine lives on also.
What are the chances?
Thank you,
Bob
