Arthur married Sarah Clare Roche on 17 Oct 1849. Source: Washington, DC Marriages, 1826-50. She was supposedly the daughter of James R. Roche and Winnifred Ann Mitchell, but I haven't looked into documenting that. She was b. in MD on 24 Oct 1827. She was his only wife, so the Arthur Hood in Floyd Co. GA in 1850 wasn't him.
I haven't found Arthur on the 1850 census, but since their daughter Anna was b. in Washington, DC in 1852 they were probably there.
Sarah Clara died in 1891 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Cuthbert, Randolph Co. GA. Arthur died sometime between 26 Dec 1892 and 1895. I haven't found out where he's buried, though.
Their children were:
1. Anna M. b. 1852 in Washington, DC. She d. May 1911 in Cuthbert, GA. She never married. Her obituary appeared in the 7 May 1911 issue of "The Atlanta Constitution."
2. Mary Cobbie b. March 1854 in GA. She married Dr. Robert B. Ridley ca 1886 as his second wife. They had 6 children together. She died in 1912.
3. Col. Arthur B. b. Jan 1856 in GA. He married Leila M. Gunn ca 1881. He was a lawyer. He d. 24 Feb 1901 in Cuthbert, GA. His obituary appeared in the 25 Feb 1901 issue of "The Atlanta Constitution."
4. Eleanor b. 1858 in GA. She married Eber W. Deveny before 1880, lived in Augusta GA, and died on 28 Jan 1893 of typhoid fever in Arlington annex. Her obituary appeared that day in "The Atlanta Constitution."
5. Millie Burke b. 1860 in GA, d. 1910. Living in Augusta, GA in 1892.
6. Belle b. 1862 in GA, d. 1864 in GA.
