Looking for information on the parents, siblings and ancestral line of Benjamin Hood and spouse Nancy Bandeur Hood. Appreciate any information that may clarify this Hood family line. Thanks. My Benjamin Hood was born ~1797 in Maryland or PA and died in Washington County, Ohio on Jan 5, 1875. Nancy Bandeur was born ~1807 in Ohio and died after 1880. They were married in Belmont County, Ohio on Feb 23, 1834. Benjamin & Nancy had ~7-children – all born in Ohio. My suspicion is that Benjamin Hood is descended from the Hood family line described in an article posted on line at the following link. http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/printing/titledetailsprint.asp?titleno=308880 This article states that: “The family came to America in 1668 and settled in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Benjamin Hood immigrated to America with his two older brothers ca. 1668. He settled in Maryland on the Patapsco upon which he built a mill. Record lists names, without dates, of Benjamin's two sons. Children of his son, Benjamin; and The eight children of his grandson, Benjamin.” A second article posted on line also appears to speak to this same Hood family: http://www.marylandlife.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=issue.issue_view&issue_ID=7 “The following excerpt is from Biographical and Historical Accounts of Ellicott Family, Collected and Compiled by Charles W. Evans, Buffalo, New York (page 21):” "Ellicotts [sic] upper mill was built by James Hood, in 1768, but was then only used to grind corn. It was conveyed to the Ellicott brothers, in 1774, by Benjamin Hood, eldest son and heir-at-law of James Hood for L 1700 Maryland currancy [sic]. This property contained 157 acres and afterward 176 acres. The deed provides that the ground where James Hood, the father, was buried should be retained as a family burying ground. It was on the low ground north of the mansion. In later years, the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad was constructed over it and obliterated all traces of it." Notify Administrator about this message?
