Alexander was the son of Morgan H. Hood and Mary Ann McKinney. He was b. ca 1803 in SC. His family was in Buncombe Co. NC in 1830 and Van Buren Co. MO (now Cass Co. MO) in 1840. His father was issued a Peter's Colony (TX) land certificate but died before he could patent it. His heirs patented it. Morgan is buried in Grapevine, TX but highway machinery destroyed some graves, including his.
