Hazel,

I have a portrait of a young woman named Imogene Hood. It was among keepsakes of my grandmother who was born in Clay Co., AL, in 1880. On the back she wrote "Imogene Hood, my first school teacher, Ashland, Ala." This would be somewhere around 1885-1886. Ms. Hood is African-American.

Could this Imogene Hood be part of the Hood's you mention in Alabama?
