Dear Zinha,
I am not the genealogist you may be looking for, but I think that I can give you a hand in finding out about your ancestors. As I understood you want to know all you can about the history of family Ribeiro and reconnect all the places they passed through: HK, Macao, Portugal and so on.
As it happens, I am also daughter and granddaughter of two families who are registered in Macao: Demée and Morgado.
Here in Portugal, I got the chance to buy the complete works 'Macanese Families) (Famílias de Macau), by Jorge Forjaz, edited by Fundação do Oriente in 1996. These so called 'complete works' consist of 3 big books of the size of phone directories (you actually need both hands and quite a lot of strength to carry one of them).
As I am looking for an uncle who stayed in HK after the handover (he's my father's half-brother), I came across your message and instantly went to check if 'Macanese Families' include any records on the Ribeiro family. IT DOES!!!!!! I guess the records on your family must be quite complete, as they consist of 20 pages plus 4 pages with photos. The first record is from 1750.
This is a special and limited edition and I guess that it is difficult to find it now. This edition is also written in Portuguese - I don't know if you can read it.
In order to help you, I need some comments from you: yoursand your parents (if possible also grand-parents)names, places and birth dates.
Once I have this data, I can (double)check on the referred records.
Do please tell me all you want to know.
Awainting your news,
warm regards,
Maria Luis Demée
