Velasquez family from El Progreso, Honduras

My girlfriend's Velasquez ancestors are from El Progreso, Honduras. Her grandfather, Juan Angel Velasquez, was born in Progreso in 1902. He emigrated to the US (Texas) in the mid 1920s.

His father was Jose Melecio Velasquez, who was among the founders of the town of El Progreso in 1892. We believe that his wife's parents were from Morocco and died shortly after giving birth to Juan Angel in 1902. We don't know her name at this time.

As I mentioned, Juan Angel Velasquez came to Texas (Laredo) from Honduras in the 20s and married Maria Dolores Contreras. They eventually moved to San Antonio, Texas. He was a photographer and she worked at the Gunter Hotel.

If anyone has any information that may help me, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks, and good luck to everyone else as well!

Larissa Galenes
