Daniel, I have your family now. We had your dad's name only as Ron, which I have changed to Ronald Lee. We have some work to do to bring things up to date. Please contact me directly at [email protected] so we can start that process a little at a time.
You are descended from famed gunmaker Abraham[1] Honaker, son of the Swiss immigrant Hans Jacob Honaker who landed at Philadelphia aboard the ship Crown in 1749. It will take me a few days to assemble some info that that I will mail you. An Abraham rifle is displayed at the DeWitt Wallace Gallery, Colonial Williamsburg. It is thought to be the earliest known rifle ever made completely in America. It is quite a masterpiece. The mystery is that we don't know how Abraham learned to do such work. As nearly as we can tell, his father was a carpenter but not finely skilled.
Questions for you:
1. Your granddad Clarence was reported to us as died and buried in Dunkirk, N.Y. How did he happen to get there? Do you have an obituary on him, with name and place of newspaper? Same with his two wives.
2. Do you know which children were born to which wives?
3. Need the children's full given names, full date & place (city if any, county, state) born, if you can provide the info.
Many, many thanks. Your cousin, Tom Hanlin, volunteer, Honaker Family Assn., 105 Indian Bayou Drive, DESTIN FL 32541.
